Lunch at Garden Carver in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY

Part 2 of my Saturday blog post continued.. I walked from Domino Park to Garden Carver, which was an easy walk on Grand St. Garden Carver was such a cute vegan cafe that I ended up coming again on Sunday. The food was delicious. It had lovely decor and it was so nice to sit inside. There was also seating outside. The cafe had a lot of calming colors and it also had art hanging on a portion of the wall. There was a lot of natural light coming inside. I also had to take a picture of the cafe's bathroom because it was really cute. See images below.

I started with tea, which was Palais des Thés' peppermint tea. I sipped the tea and journalled about my morning for a while. I finally settled on ordering grilled cheese on housemade sourdough bread with sunday sauce, but without carmelized onions. I think this was the best grilled cheese I EVER had. It had a cheddar cheese inside and a side of tomato sauce with a basil on it to dip it in. The sourdough bread was perfectly toasted and the cheese was so melty. There were also some salt flakes on the sandwich. All the ingredients tasted fresh and quality made. This grilled cheese sandwich literally made my day. It was the best I ever had, vegan or not. See images below.

I couldn't wait to try more on on their menu and decided to go back on Sunday. I had also figured out which table had an outlet next to it, which I don't know why outlets were limited in cafes. As soon as I got there, I did some journaling first, then saw the table with an outlet get empty, and moved there. I had also missed to charge my laptop that day. I ordered peppermint tea again, because it was good on my stomach. For lunch, I ordered spicy rigatoni and shaved brussel sprouts. This was a good combination and it was truly delicious. The shaved brussel sprouts would not have gone with a sandwich. The pasta was an awesome comfort food dish. It had their sunday sauce with chunks of seitan. The brussel sprouts were raw, with crispy onions and a mustard vinaigrette. They definitely made the raw brussel sprouts taste good. See images below of round two at Garden Carver.

They also had vegan versions of classic candy bars. I got a Go Max Go Jokers Candy Bar. It was delicious and it was the perfect thing to have a little bit after having my lunch. It was caramel, peanuts, and chocolate. This candy bar proves that animal milk is not a necessary ingredient for a delicious chocolate bar. :) If I get to go back, I definitely want the grilled cheese and candy bar again. I ordered the BLT to go for lunch the next day, which was also on their sourdough bread, and was delicious. See images below.

The cafe also sold vegan cheeses and vegan meat replacements. I decided to take a Rebel Cheese back with me to try and got a pack of Colby Jack. This cheese was even better than real cheese. (Yes the last time I had cheese from animal milk was a long long time ago, but I do remember the taste.) This plant based cheese company has been on Shark Tank. I had it cold with an apple and also had it melted in my soup. Literally finished it in a week. It's so amazing how there's a better tasting plant based version for every food.
