Lunch at Modern Love, Brooklyn, NYC

Today I went to Modern Love, a fully vegan restaurant, for brunch and had reservations at 11:30am. The restaurant is located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I ordered shrooms and grits, which is "crispy oyster mushrooms, spicy cherry tomato sauce, old bay, chickpeas, creamy grits, scallions, sorrel" and apple ricotta toast which is "whipped cashew tofu ricotta, apple, hot honee, sourdough bread". This was from the brunch menu. The food was so delicious and refreshing. I also got coffee with oat milk. It was definitely a "wow" meal.

The apple ricotta toast was so refreshing and delicious. In this dish, the sweet, savory, and sour tastes went so well together. It also had argula on it, which had a mildly sour dressing on it. I enjoyed tasting the sweet syrup and the apple in every bite because it balanced out with the savory ricotta and sour dressing tastes. The dressing on the argula was so good that I could just keep eating it alone. You can see the ricotta and apples below the argula in the image below.

Then they brought the shroom and grits, which was such a comfort meal! It had so many vegetables in it and it also had chickpeas in it. It also had fried mushrooms on the top. Such a creative recipe for grits. I could taste the vegetables and chickpeas the entire time while eating it, so it wasn't just a few toppings. I strategically saved the fried mushrooms to take to go. It was just the right amount of food, but maybe because I ordered coffee in the beginning, it affected my appetite. It was just so cold, so I couldn't wait until the end of the meal to get coffee.

The inside decor was so cool and spacious. It also had a cozy feel to it. It was so lovely dining in. I also learned that the food is by Isa Chandra Moskowitz, who has also authored cookbooks! Now I definitely have the cookbooks on my list to get.

I left at 10:30am and took the J train to Hewes St. The restaurant was less than a 10 minute walk from the subway station. There is also a wonderful Modern Love mural on the side of the building, which I saw when arriving. The restaurant is in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. You can see my previous post about Williamsburg and part 2 of this day when I went to downtown Brooklyn.
